Candle Care

Lulumière Ceramic Candle

Yay! You selected a handmade candle made with beautiful ingredients & are ready to fill your space with its light & scent. Here are some tips so that you can get the most out of your candle. You see, I'm not just a candle maker, but I'm a seasoned candle user too! I hope these help you as much as they've helped me.

  • Safety first. For the well being of your body, home & loved ones, please make sure your lit candles are safely out of reach of children, pets, drapery & windows.
  • Let it burn! Each time you light your candle, let the wax melt all the way to the edges of the glass before extinguishing it. This will allow the candle to burn longer & more evenly. This may take 1-2 hours, so relax & enjoy this process.
  • Sometimes forgetful? That's ok. It happens to us all. But we never want to forget a burning candle. My tip: Set a timer on your phone for 15 minutes before you have to leave the house or for 4 hours, whichever is shorter. Peace of mind is priceless.
  • Trim the wick. Each candle wick is optimized for burning a maximum of 4 hours. But sometimes the days & nights are long, so a candle might be left burning for longer than that. What happens is you'll end up with a mushroomed wick at the end of the day. Do not re-light mushroomed wicks as the large flame is a hazard. What you'll want to do is let your candle cool completely. Then before you light it again, trim your wick to about 1/4". No fancy wick trimmer? That's ok! Just pinch it off and you should be left with the perfect sized wick. My trick! Wet your fingertips before pinching off your wick so you won't be left with soot stained fingers.
